Description

Based on the façade of the Crafts Council headquarter and gallery, this oversized pin was commissioned by the Crafts Council to publicise its relocation to Pentonville Road in 1991.

Materials and techniques

The work was constructed by scoring and folding sheet silver with windows finely pierced out with a fret saw and very fine blades. The stem is made with tapers square silver wire, twisted to 'work harden' after soldering.

As my jewellery is based on architecture the Crafts Council came to me and asked me to design and make something based on the Pentonville Road building. It was an unusual commission being a jewellery design, but an unwearable size. It was the largest item I had made up to that point and gave me more confidence to ‘go large’.
