Maker's statement

I have been working intermittently on the idea of a simple Alphabet pop-up book for some years. The first actual alphabet forms came with an alphabet poem written by Roy Fisher "Scenes from the Alphabet" in which I used A, B & C down the "gutter" of a central spread on "french folded section". The forms are basically those used in Alphabeta Concertina. The problem in designing the book was in giving each letter one page without having a hole and at the same time making it compact enough not to stretch out to 6 metres.
