Book containing doublures of waxed paper with 19 wood engravings, with a cover of natural goatskin and black paper, onlays of green and red leather, and gold and black tooling, with an accompanying slip case and black box.

Materials and techniques

Cover of natural oasis goatskin and dyed, sanded and waxed paper. Onlays of green and red goatskin. Incised lines and marks. Gold and black tooling. Visible sewing over hide thongs laced into boards. Doublures of dyed, sanded and waxed paper. Fly-leaves of Japanese gampi vellum. Edges gilt over red before sewing. Letterpress, with 19 wood engravings from Underwood's original blocks 1925-34.
