Maker's statement

I started to make the bum bowls as a student at the RCA. They are probably the first pieces of "intensional" design that I produced in glass; I could hardly make anything at all and so are very simple. The glass was blown onto a shaped metal vane which produced the cleft. At first I thought they looked like peaches or plums but every one who saw them said no ....BUM......BUM... and so the name has stuck ever since.
