Maker's statement

The first pieces for Transglass were designed in 1997 and were originally produced by Tord Boontje and Emma Woffenden in their London studio. Since 2005 Transglass is produced in Guatemala City in a newly created workshop where young people learn the skills of glass making and many of whom have become experts in cutting and polishing.

Carafe is an iconic vessel to use for filtered water on the table or apple juice in the garden. The bottles are collected, sorted and crafted by artisans in Guatemala. They are hand cut and sandblasted which often leaves them with slight imperfections, making them unique and adding to their character. As bottles are recycled, colours can vary.
