Description

Round black matt perspex neckpiece inlaid with blue, green, orange, purple and yellow bands of colour. Solid round piece with hole in centre to put over head.

Materials and techniques

The disc and concentric rings of the piece were cut by the perspex supplier from the maker's drawing. Heron offset the rings and joined them with cold-curve embedding resin. She made a working drawing in advance to decide the exact colours and position of the meeting points between colours. She ground and finished the surface by hand using wet and dry emery paper.

Maker's statement

The Jubilee Neckpieces marked the end of the silver/resin work and my changing attitude towards jewellery. Together with the perspex multiples of 1976, they mark the start of a train of thought resulting in the group of work shown in 'Bodywork' Crafts Council 1976.
