Materials and techniques

Layered discs of Financial Times newspaper, piano wire, fine silver ends, mokuba paper. The newspaper is soaked and dried (to obtain an interesting crinkly texture). Discs of paper are punched from layers using a cutting dye and a fly press. These are then threaded onto 0.9mm piano wire. Silver tubes are soldered onto the finew silver ends. These in turn are glued onto the piano wire using a resin based glue.

Maker's statement

Represents one of the three different ranges of work that I make: 1. Paper cord; colour extremely important, fun, using textile techniques. 2. Large layered paper; more sculptural, serious (colour in a different context ie colour of paper etc. 3. Smaller more commercial pieces which use the styles and techniques of the above. 3.
