Description

Tin-glazed earthenware bowl decorated with brushed lustre glaze in abstract patterns of reddish-amber on a grey ground.

Materials and techniques

Tin-glazed earthenware with brush decorated reddish-amber lustre glaze on green/grey ground. Thrown. Opaque tin glaze fired at 1050 deg. C in wood fired kiln and refired for the lustre reduction at 670 deg. C.

Maker's statement

This is rather unusual in its "decoration" perhaps because it is a containing shape and asks for different treatment from the open bowl shapes I make more often. It is an unusually deep and mysterious lustre, which I think goes well for this form.
