Description

Red/brown earthenware body painted with cream coloured spots, with green, blue, yellow and orange decoration.

Materials and techniques

Oxidised red earthenware with matt lead sesquisilicate glaze and painted with slips: yellow, blue, green, cream and orange. Slab-built. Earthenware body painted with spots of buff slip before firing at 1100 deg. C. Glaze poured inside and sprayed outside.

Maker's statement

Use of red clay is quite recent, still using areas of buff to get more colour with underglazes. Unusually loose painting was exhilarating.
