Maker's statement

The plate typifies my fascination and pleasure in pottery, if, the plate rolls, cartwheels, sumersalts with animated happiness along the ground. The textured appendages can be seen as legs, arms or even ears propelling and suporting the plate, a contrast and stability is given by the 'broken' cut edge. The handling, construction, use of weight, texture and colour is typical of my work. I chose to sign the piece boldly to emphasise the idea of the whole piece almost being a "trademark" of my work.
