Description

Round dish with two high handles, with a green/brown ash outer glaze and a black tenmouku glaze on the inside.

Materials and techniques

Reduction firing in an oil kiln, to 1280 deg.C. Tenmoku glaze inside. Exterior dry ash glazed over paper-resist decoration with white porcelanous slip; some graffito details. Wheel-thrown; pulled handles and legs.

A whole series of large handled "baskets" and legged snake dishes in oil and salt firings was started in 1983 and is continuing during 1984.
