Description

Shallow stoneware bowl with two curved 'wing' attachments on opposite sites, with a white/brown matt glaze.

Materials and techniques

Thrown and turned stoneware; 'wings' combed, bent, carved and applied to body. Porcelain slips with additions painted and sprayed onto dry body, then painted and sprayed with matt glaze. Once-fired in an electric kiln.

Maker's statement

It has been made a year or so after setting up my new London workshop and is a product of much research in new glazes and slips for firing in an electric kiln because all previous work had been fired in a reduction gas kiln.
