Description

Stoneware mix teapot with a long spout, two handles and a small lid, with a green/brown glaze.

Materials and techniques

Stoneware mix clay. Body and lid thrown, spout press-moulded, handles made from rolled coils. Body and lid covered with engobe applied to biscuit. The whole piece is sprayed with an oxide mixture. Interior glazed with woodash, clay and dolomite glaze coloured with cobalt. Fired and slatglazed at 1280 deg. C and reduced.

Maker's statement

Wales - This is one of a batch of six which were made on speculation of a new idea. Drawings were made some months before production of prototypes - special moulds had to be made for pressing the spouts. I have since made two more batches, including some larger pieces.
