Description

T-material pot with narrow base, angled elipse and a tilted rim, with dark mottled finish.

Materials and techniques

Handbuilt coloured stoneware pot (by pinch & coil techniques). Clay T-material, stained using various oxides: vanadium pentoxide, manganese dioxide, copper oxide, iron oxide. Burnished using agate & impregnating further oxides during burnishing. Hand made bamboo tools used in making as well as wooden tools and metal ribs. Fired in oxidation atmosphere (1270 deg. C.)

Maker's statement

First successful pot which I have made using American oxides; also one of the first successful pieces using shelf rims.
