Maker's statement
These pieces represent a distillation of previous design work, paring design down to a basic stripe and concentrating on proportion, scale and the movement of colour within these areas. The brush marks are retained. The gold piece was the first experiment with not mixing the dye thoroughly so that small specks of dye powder burst into the cloth during steaming to create flecks of intense colour within the brush stroke.
