Description

Paper based work, with square and rectangular shaped layers on top of one another, with red, brown, grey and blue the predominant colours, secured to grey mount with a frame.

Materials and techniques

The layered paper structure is made from different types of painted and treated paper, e.g. gesso, shellac, PVA glues, earth pigments, bronze pigments and stains. When the paper's surface is completed it is built into the final structure, in this case reminiscent of a book - hence the title from T.S.Eliot's poem 'Four Quartets'. The structure is then sewn with stained metal copper metal sheets woven in and out of the paper structure.
