Description
Predominantly black paperwork with three squares of green, red, yellow smudged with black, with some of the surface raised and layered.
Materials and techniques
Hand made paper: cotton linters dyed with cellulose dyes; couched and laminated, then recoloured with inks and tempera while wet. Waxed when dry then set into larger final piece of couched and laminated linters. Whole strengthened with dilute PVA, then recoloured with inks/acrylic/tempera.

This piece was made upon my return from Venice in Sept 1986. i had wanted to embody something of the colours, the light and shadows and the layered history of the painted surfaces there.
