Description

Basket made of coiled cardboard and string with apple juice cartons as a central theme and structure on the front and back, with a lid with a wooden stick to act as the handle.

Materials and techniques

The front and back were assembled first by arranging the cartons in circles. They were then stitched together. Two side panels were made next. Then all sections were joined together with coiled cardboard. The lid was made by layering card and shaping it then an edging strip was stitched on and the hole for the lid cut out.

Maker's statement

It was one of the first pieces I made after deciding to only use recycled or found materials that I felt did everything I wanted visually and practically. I still feel it is a very good piece.
