For two years, I felt an intense attraction towards a certain church candle – at least, it always felt like the same candle. It was from my observation of its waxing and waning that this statement piece was conceived. I was mesmerised by the free-formed wax, with its drip solidified in motion. Strikingly reminiscent of magma, it resembled the cooling of molten rock. I felt compelled to capture this fragile material in metal and in doing so, I have crystalized a moment in time - a beautiful memory and a lived experience.
