Description

Commissioned by the Crafts Council for the exhibition I AM HERE: Portable art, wearable objects, jewellery since the 1970s as part of the merchandise, Tatty Devine reworked their Autumn Winter 2015 Seasonal collection. This flat, circular brooch illustrates a pot plant with four leaves, linked by small golden rings, hanging from the middle to left.

Materials and techniques

The original design is drawn by hand and then drawn up in Illustrator, the files are then sent into Corel Draw which drives the laser cutter. The work is etched and then inlayed with acrylic paint by hand. The heated acrylic was bent by hand.

Maker's statement

The piece was from our AW15 seasonal collection which was inspired by Memphis, Still Life painting and Sexist Advertising in 1970's magazines.

It felt very exciting and we were proud to be asked to make these pieces for such an important show about jewellery makers now.
