Description
Poster for 'Carousel: A changing selection of objects by Craftsmen from the Crafts Advisory Committee Index', a Crafts Advisory Committee exhibition held at Waterloo Place Gallery, London, from 14 June to 26 August 1978. This changing exhibition was selected by Alison Britton, potter, and Carol Hogben of the Victoria & Albert Museum to attract attention to the services provided by the Index of Craftsmen. The selectors were asked to refer to the Index of Craftsmen where the work of over 300 markers is recorded. Part of their brief was to cover as wide a range of subjects as possible, given the limitations of the gallery space. The makers were selected and represented by groups of work, which were shown in a sequence of three displays together with photographic documentation and essays from specialised authors. The poster was designed by Ed Brennan. Illustration by Donna Muir.
