Maker's statement

Texts: "All things...'" is attributed to Kahlil Gibran but exact source untraced. "For in the wilderness...'" Isaiah 35,6. It was the latest in a long line of pieces which use the given form of wood and colour, grain, etc. as a very important base-line in the design process, i.e. the wood isn't a raw material I work on but something I work with - rather like an exploratory conversation. Also a new departure in that it can be hung on its edge on a vertical surface or be mounted horizontally: two sculptures for the price of one! Exhibited in Visions and Revisions Collection Touring Exhibition, closed 1998.
