Description
Blue glass bowl with ridged spirals.
Materials and techniques
Blown bowl in 24% lead crystal, colour incorporated hot as a soft spiral. Once cooled the bowls are masked off and sand-blasted to achieve the lines/ridges. Base is finished and lapped by hand before polishing.

Maker's statement
I worked on the idea for the 'circle bowl' at the beginning of 1990 and displayed as ' groups' from the middle of the year. Although the forms and texture are a progression from previous work, I feel that the concept of simple forms arranged as 'groups', 'complemnementary pieces' is the embryo of of a direction, would like to pursue with my one-off pieces. (Having moved my studio and chosen to no longer be open to the public, hope to be able to spend much more time developing this work uninterupted)
