Description

Thick glass bowl with blue exterior and thin orange/red interior.

Materials and techniques

Free blown in 24% lead crystal and Kugler colour by Neil Wilkin (his initials NW appear on the base). The bowl is made by underlaying and overlaying layers of colour between the layers of clear crystal. When the piece is cool, it is sawn, ground, bevelled and polished.

Maker's statement

Artist's statement 1991: This bowl is part of the most recent group of bevelled bowls I've produced. The first bowls were produced at the RCA in the 1984 and I've been exploring this vessel form in series ever since.
