Description

Experimental piece made of machine-spun loop mohair. An exploration of structure to make a scarf warmer.

Materials and techniques

Handwoven on an AVL computer-controlled loom using machine-spun loop mohair. Two layers of plain weave woven simultaneously with one layer piercing the other to make flaps. They are not stitched togethre down the length. The colour placing gives a clue to structure.

Maker's statement

All my work is about pushing the materials and/or structure to the edge. The piece after this one would have three clothes woven simultaneously, then four, up to the limit of the number of shafts on the loom. No stitching is involved, and the more loose layers, the warmer the scarf would be.
