Sample for Size Matters works made for Chalsea Crafts Fair 2001
Materials and techniques
Weaved free-handedly with the maker's own wefting technique on a simple small homemade wooden frame loom. Petticoat cloth cut into weavable strips, knotted to secure on warp wire when needed. To shape, the number of warp wires were increased and reduced while manipulating warp tensions. Once cut off loom, warp wire ends were twisted to secure work top and bottom. Hands, scissors, wire cutters and pliers, needle and pins are used in making.

Handling Sample 2 was a sample for Size Matters, made for Chelsea Crafts Fair 2001 Size Matters was an attempt at a more ‘commercial’ work; A limited edition of 20 miniature works playing on the variations of women’s’ dress sizing in high street fashion. The concept around the selling of the work was also part of the work;
‘…as individual little slips sell, the work gets smaller referencing the desire to be smaller in size’ (extract from Lucy Brown’s Size Matters Statement 2001)
