Maker's statement
The small silk bag is made from fabric cut and stitched in a complimentary colour. It is then knitted with other yarns or singly. The pattern is a favourite called ‘Elongated Stitch’, when the yarn is wound around the needle several times during the knitting on one row and opens out to form a long stitch on the next row. It can be crossed to produce further patterning and combined with a contrasting yarn between rows for further interest. The slight fraying that results from this technique produces a beautiful fabric.
