Materials and techniques
The fold weave of the seat is woven with a double chain of strongly-twisted cotton thread. The under chain is the basic weave, the upper chain the folds. To make the fold in the upper chain, Andrea Burkhard weaves the double height of the fold flat, loosens the upper chain a little, pulls the weft and fixes the emerging fold in the underweave. Fold follows fold, woven in the woof of an industrially-made rubber string. The form, the material and the fold structure result in a newly interpreted cushion.
