Maker's statement
Using a hand-made chisel shaped like this {drawing of chisel} (which I made especially to make these cones) I pierce through the copper onto a wooden block. This starts to make the copper sheet curl. It also hardens the metal. It is then ANNEALED (ie softened) by heating the copper to red hot then leaving it to cool. On the new copper this produces the rich reds (see sample 10). This one was made from scrap copper which is less successful.
