Maker's statement
The boat-shaped candle-holder. Forged from mild steel plate (see sample 12). I drill a hole in the centre through which a forged spike is passed and welded into place. The lines, or indentations, on the boat shape are caused when I hammer the flat plate into a hole in the SWAGE BLOCK. I leave these on the surface as they emphasise the shape and I wish the processes involved in the making to be evident.
