Maker's statement
One of a series of pod forms. The root was made using the techniques described in sample 15. The pod is made from 3 sides of hammered sheet - the seams welded using the oxy-acetylene torch. The sprouting point was forged by hand and filed back to reveal the shiny steel. This was then heat coloured. You can just about make out the 'tempering' colours - yellow, purple and blue if you catch the light right.
