Maker's statement

The shapes are cut by hand, linished and then bevelled by hand. Pebbles are collected from beaches and laid out on boards in the workshop. I choose the pebbles for each piece of jewellery very carefully taking into account its colour, texture, shape and size to find a balance between those used together.

The pebbles are fixed onto the material with nylon wire. Some are tied on and some are drilled with a diamond drill bit. The ends of the nylon are melted to hold the stones in place.

The brooch fittings are screwed onto the laminate and the earring fittings are glued.

I also make a series of clocks and bowls using the same materials with pebbles.
