Maker's statement

This bangle is one of a group of pieces made since I came to Newcastle (OCT.1980). Using plastics on their own (i.e. without metal). It represents a continuation of my belief that jewellery should be simple to put on + wear (I think of jewellery as a compliment to the wearer + his/ her clothes rather than a denial of their existence). Although this is a flat piece, it is a step towards making pieces which combine colour + pattern in more 3-dimensional forms.
It is also an example of my present concern with making jewellery which is reasonabley priced, can be repeated + sometimes incorporates some process of mass-production.
