Maker's statement
This phase of work represents the transition from jewellery to clothing. This is one of a series of armpieces - 'Sleeves'. From these pieces, my garments developed. The ideas I was working on were how to make a piece of jewellery as large as possible, whilst still making it wearable. Also, the change of character of a piece from being worn to an abstract piece. The 'transparency' of the piece when on the arm is important (as in the veil 1983 Crafts Council Collection).
