Description

Silver teardrop-shaped frame with ten pendant teardrops hanging from it, with a stainless steel pin.

Materials and techniques

The wire used to construct the basic frame shape was drawn through a teardrop shaped drawplate. The pendant wires were round initially then hammered onto a textured steel block. The catch and pin stem were made from oval wire, the pin itself from stainless steel. The frame shape was glass brushed in lines to give a linear, matt texture and the pendant pieces were brass wire brushed.

Maker's statement

It is part of a recent series which dvelops the theme of movement and change. The spirit level association has three possible meanings, like a spirit level to indicate whether a surface is level; the level of spirit; the level of a spirit.
