Sample For Treasury Gates at St Peter Mancroft Church, Norwich
Four iron rods joined by forged sections running adjacent to the rods.
Materials and techniques
Made from angle iron. Jointing by punched tabs in the verticals which fold over the forged horizontals. Verticals are crushed to an 'aerofoil' section. Actual gates pivot on central posts, locking in both open and closed positions. Extensive use of fly-press for forging, punching, crushing and straightening. The only hammer work was in closing the tabs.
