Description

Mild steel bowl with three visibly welded panels, with two ridges on the underside.

Materials and techniques

Three pieces cut from flat mild steel plate. Formed hot between fly-press tools. Flanges formed by hammering in jigs and heated. The edges are ground. Joined by oxyacetylene welding along flanges. Bowl cleaned in acid, polished and waxed.

This represents my early work. I am now concentrating on funcitonal/architectural ironwork.
