Maker's statement

I was particularly pleased with this pot and felt when I made it that it was in some way a small breakthrough for me. There seems to be an especially strong relationship between the surface and the form, and it is still one of the most direct expressions of a feeling that I try to convey, that I have managed to produce. It set me off in a new direction accidentally, as it started as one half of a very unsuccessfull pot which I decided to cut down the middle and make into two - something which I now do quite often and find very helpful in inventing entirely new forms.
