Description

Narrow abstract-shaped stoneware jug, with a long handle and narrow spout, with light blue glaze.

Materials and techniques

Thrown in three sections and dried by gas torch. Raw glazed over porcelain slips - applied when dry. Fired once to 1250 deg. C in an oxidised atmosphere. The thrown sections are joined wet and re-thrown using a gas torch to preserve the marks and sections beneath.

Maker's statement

This piece is representative of a family of shapes which I return to often: jug, bottle, bowl. It is also one of a group of four jugs which I made primarily to exhibit in Norway.
