Description

Abstract form assembled from a sardine can containing two scrolls that both have forks sticking out of the top, and metal hairs at the bottom of the can.

Materials and techniques

Sardine can lined with Egyptian paste. Firing temperature at 980 degrees celsius. Two forks are fired in sand at 1200 degrees celsius. Two dark scrolls are slip dipped in fibreglass. Galvanised wire used. Assembled after firing and metal hairs attached.

I WAS ASKED BY CAA TO MAKE A GROUP OF SMALL PIECES FOR A SPECIAL FOCUS EXHIBITION MAR 1998 (A VIEW OF CLAY)THEY ARE PART OF AN ONGOING INTEREST IN SMALL DOMESTIC UTENSILS, WHICH ARE INCORPORATED IN THE HORKS AND TRANSFORMED INTO SOMETHING ELSE.
