Description

Stoneware teapot with a round body and a handle raised over the lid, with a brown/red bisque and glaze.

Materials and techniques

Thrown and constructed red unglazed stoneware, fired to high temperature for red or iron rich clays of 1270/80C, with a grey interior glaze. Constructed at the greenware stage from thrown elements. Fired twice with a bisque and glaze firing. Oxidised to 1270/80C.

Maker's statement

Rationale behind this making approach is a desire to keep the fluidity and texture of thrown surfaces but to develop a range of forms that extend beyond the usual circular cross section of the thrown pot.
