Description
Woven silk and wool scarf, predominantly green/grey scarf with red thread detailing. The fabric has been sewn to form even gathers along the length.
Materials and techniques
Hand dyed with acid dyes. Hand woven on an 8 shaft countermarch loom with the wool and silk warps separately tensioned.

Maker's statement
1993: This piece was based on the elastic seersucker structure of bats' wings. I used narrow bands of high twist wool in a honeycomb weave, designed to contract during the finishing process, to achieve the seersucker effect.
