Description

Woven mohair, goat's hair and linen rug, rectangular shape with a hexagonal line design in orange, ochre and cream, with braided ends.

Materials and techniques

Reversible flat weave in diagonal design. Brushed mohair, wool and white goat hair on linen warp. Woven in shaft switching technique on a specially adapted loom. Woven on loom specially designed to give reversable 2-colour design.

Maker's statement

Design of the diagonals derived from the raised diagonal ridges on some of the other rugs in the CC Gallery exhibition. Attempted to use larger and therefore fewer design units in a rug.
