Description
Rug with a cotton warp and calico weft, in coloured blocks of black, blues, red and yellow.
Materials and techniques
Cotton warp, calico weft. Calico dyed and ripped to make a continuous thread. Woven using tapestry and kelim techniques to make a dense weft-faced rug. Warp threads sewn back into rug.

Maker's statement
It is one of the first pieces I made, when I started making rugs. I think it was definitely a turning point for using stronger colour and simpler geometric shapes. It is an old favourite. One of those pieces of work where you learn an awfull lot.
