Hand-carved holly representation of a snake hatching from a shell.
Materials and techniques
Hand-carved holly wood, with inlaid horn eyes. Body of snake stained. Overall beeswax finish. Specific processes include sawing, roughing out, carving with gouges and chisels, sanding, engraving, burnishing, inlay, polishing and staining.
