Description

Hand-carved wild service tree bowl with a smooth outside, two small horns on rim, fine radiating flutes inside bowl, and an untreated surface.

Materials and techniques

Wild service tree, carved with radiating flutes on the inside. The outside is carved, and finished with spokeshaves. The fluting inside is cut with a gouge or hook tool directed by a lever. (Technique invented by the maker, 1949).
