Maker's statement

This particular combination of basketry techniques is one which I have devised myself and have used in much of my recent work. The twined, coiled and lashed border defines the basket and gives it strength while the open work structure in the centre permits the inclusion of small found objects - in this case pebbles and shell. These ahve no intrinsci value but strike a chord with many people becaused they are associated with memories of walks and seaside holidays.
