Description

Bowl made of strips of knitted cloth dipped in slip, with a multi-coloured mottled surface, joined by a thick strip of cast slip, painted in abstract line decoration.

Materials and techniques

Built from strips of cloth knitted into two pieces, dipped in slip and joined with a strip of cast slip. Painted with coloured slip and underglaze colours. Glazed with a clear glaze.

This one of a new series of one-off hand built pieces using sheets of cast slip and cloth dipped in slip (there were 6 yards of fabric used in making this one).
