Description

Tiered sqaure earthenware frame coloured grey and light blue, linked to eleven 'moving' panels of white porcelain by pieces of cloth dipped in coloured slips.

Materials and techniques

Frame hand-built from sheets of cast coloured earthenware slip. Porcelain segments joined together with porcelain links to form a moving centre attached to the frame by cloth dipped in slip. Frame glazed with clear glaze. Porcelain left unglazed.

Maker's statement

This piece was one of two moving pieces both using similar techniques - I was interested in the idea of making a pot that moved. This was the second of the two. It was made at the Ceramic Work Centre at Hewsden where I worked for two weeks - I made two pieces there which I finished in london.
